Tyler State Park - Part 2

When I left you last, we were making our way across the dam at Tyler State Park. It was our first full day of camping there in our RV and we were hiking around the lake. There were so many gorgeous wild flowers on the dam that we got hung up there for a while.

I hated to leave any of them unphotographed but we didn't want to take all day and it was sunny and starting to get hot on the dam so eventually we pulled ourselves away and made it to the shade on the other side.

There were not many flowers in the shade but it was still beautiful.

Looking back at the dam, on the right, from the fishing pier.

I thought the tree roots looked like giant octopus tentacles. The thing in the middle is a bench built by the CCC back in the 1930s.

John on the bench. The sunlight did interesting things to the colors here. (He's wearing a sailing hat, in case you're wondering.)

About half way around the lake we came to the beaver pond. It's on the right side of this bridge. We didn't see any beavers...

But we saw lots of turtles.

I counted eleven on this log

and more turtles...

The rest of the hike was much quicker, mainly because my camera batteries were both empty and my bladder was full!

Stay tuned for part 3 when we visited Tyler Rose Garden.
